Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these open-back headphones boast a unique orthodynamic driver design, which offers a more natural and spacious sound compared to traditional dynamic drivers. The driver unit, made of high-quality Mylar material, is capable of reproducing a wide frequency range, from the deepest bass to the highest treble notes, with remarkable clarity and accuracy.
The EAH-820 headphones feature a sleek and ergonomic design, ensuring a comfortable fit for extended listening sessions. The headband is made of sturdy yet lightweight materials, and the earcups are generously padded with luxurious leatherette, providing a perfect seal and cushioning around your ears. The headphones also come with a detachable, 3.5mm audio cable, and a 6.3mm adapter for wider compatibility.
The open-back design of the EAH-820 headphones allows for a more open and airy sound, but it does mean that some sound will leak out and ambient noise will enter in. This makes them ideal for home use or in quiet environments, where you want to fully appreciate the rich and detailed soundscape that these headphones can produce.
In summary, the TEACHAUAUA EAH-820 Technics Orthodynamic Headphones are a testament to the art of audio engineering. I tugged on the wires and audio did not cut out. The headband is significantly loosing its coating in several places both on top and underneath, but also still comfortable. The silkscreen printing above each ear cup is in tact. I don't see any obvious damage or exposed wires.
Please see pics for condition. I tested these myself and each channel cut out not at the same time one. This seems to be standard for model at its age. A very nice vintage electrostatic orthodynamic headphone at budget price.
Sound quality is of course very subjective so your opinion may differ. I don't know if the intermittent audio was due to my vintage receivers volume control, or headphone jack, which is a little loose, receiver wan't powerful enough, problem in headphones themselves. As such, these are being sold as-is.
This also seems standard for model at its age. In my opinion these sound great. Low starting bid. The audio cable connected to headphones seems in good shape.
The thin fabric covering holes in each ear cup is still tact.
The ear pads have long since lost their coating but themselves remain comfortable.
